Ready Cut Night
Ready Cut Cottage in the ACT's Namadgi National Park is a wonderfully isolated spot in a Class 2 Bortle area close to Australia’s national capital. The skies here are stunning, and with a great perspective to the south there are great vistas of the Milky Way, with the chance of glimpses of Aurora Australis.
I created this image, and the below timelapse video, when staying at the Cottage during an Astro Photography workshop with Ari Rex.
The image was processed in LrC and Photoshop, removing all the stars to process the milky way, and then reducing the intensity of most of the stars before adding them back in. This allowed stars like the Southern Cross constellation (crux) and some others to be given greater prominence—much closer to how we would visualize them.
