Red Jetty

Australia's northern-most capital city, Darwin, is known for its beautiful sunsets, with the sun setting over the Arafura Sea.

Sunday nights often see crowds of people out enjoying the sunset at Darwin's Mindil Beach Sunset Markets and at vantage points like the Nightcliff Jetty.

Looking for a good vantage point to get the jetty with the setting sun behind, I came upon this angle that provided the curved cloud behind, which gave the image a feeling that I thought unique.

The image was created with a graduated neutral density filter to help to balance the foreground and background light, and a second 'sunset' Grad ND filter to enhance the colour of the sky to closer to what I envisaged for the image.

Some post processing has been doing, particularly using MacPhun's Aurora HDR software.
