Strathnairn Nights
Strathnairn lies on the western edge of Canberra 🇦🇺, making it a great spot for astro photography in the mid-to-late Milky Way Core Season (Mar-Nov). In June 2024 I visited on a very cold, moonless early morning. Temperatures were -5C or so. The early morning after the moon had set provided prime time for the Milky Way Arch in the western sky. The fog in the valley, seen in the timelapse below, was a real bonus.
I had the two cameras out, with my Fuji X-T4 doing a timelapse, and the Fuji X-T5 being more focused on single shot images, and panos, like this one below.

Timelapse Video
The timelapse was a lot of fun, with horses in the paddock next to the track providing some novel movement, and with me even making a cameo or two. I really loved the fog swirling in the distant valley.

Startrail
Finally, from the timelapse, I had some fun creating a startrail image. To be honest, I prefer the single shot star trail, but splicing together images captured for a timelapse provides another way of using these images.
A really enjoyable early morning!
