The Bush Capital

Australia’s capital city, Canberra, is colloquially known as the Bush Capital. Not only is it an inland capital in a land famously girt by sea, Canberra is also surrounded by the rugged bushland the country is known for. Much of that bushland weaves its way in from the fringes of the city right to its centre.

These images were created on a hike known as Frost Hollow to Forest in the Aranda Bushland, about 6km from Canberra’s CBD, which lies just the other side of Black Mountain, seen in the images.

We encountered a lot of kangaroos on the walk and took in 10 different species of gum trees. It is a great walk, easily accessible for those in the Bush Capital.
