Wanaka Blue

Wanaka Blue

It’s almost seven years since I visited Wanaka in New Zealand, and photographed the famous Wanaka Tree at sunrise.

Growing in Lake Wanaka, this Willow is a popular subject for sunrise photography, and has suffered over the years from human impact. There was a crowd there at sunrise on this day, although almost everyone disappeared not long after the sun was up. I hung around, and captured this lovely image of the Willow.

I sat on this image for a while (almost seven years), and recently finished an edit that I am happy with. It took me a while to realise what I was looking for, which ultimately was mostly about removing a blue cast. I love re-discovering old images and finishing them off for sharing.
